Grief & Loss Series – Post # 3

Death & Loss are in our face everywhere these days. Who can escape it? The resulting suffering seems so unfair & unjust. The death of a loved one hurts in a way like nothing else can. It even makes us question God, asking ‘Why?’ and exclaiming, “It Isn’t fair?” even demanding to know ‘Why would God allow this to happen?’ Loss doesn’t make sense, and many losses seem senseless.

But when you include God in your loss, even if the ‘Why’ doesn’t go away, many other issues you have with your pain can begin healing. God offers hope to overcoming great loss. We all need hope and healing from loss. God’s answer to loss is Love. Specifically His Love. His plan, because of His great Love for us.

God didn’t shield himself from experiencing the same loss we have endured. He sacrificed his own son, Jesus Christ, and Christ died physically just as we die. God knows exactly what we are feeling when we lose a loved one. He knows intimately how deeply we hurt. God also planned ahead for that hurt and loss. His plan will eventually overcome death entirely.

He planned another life, available to his own son, Jesus, and through his son, Jesus, also to us. “ For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV Eternal life isn’t some myth, fairy tale, or wishful thinking. It was God’s plan for us all along. It secures for us another life beyond this one. Better yet, an eternal life, that doesn’t end.

I know it may be hard to believe or even consider this truth in the midst of losing a loved one. I recently lost my adult daughter, and my grief is great right now. But what Christ has done for me is meant to offer continuing comfort to us in our grief. God provided a way for us to return to an intimate relationship with him, and continuing relationships with one another beyond our present dying world. There will be a new one. It will be better than this one.

It’s available to all who will believe and trust in what God has done for us through his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus himself said in the bible, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” John 11: 25 – 26. ESV Jesus said this just before he brought his dear friend, Lazarus, back to life. He resurrected him before many witnesses, and just before he did so, he asked Martha, the sister of Lazarus, “Do you believe this?

So, I will ask you the same? “Do you believe this?”

“ Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? That he came into this world to save us from our sins and give us Eternal life?”

If you don’t, are you willing to look into Jesus life and the claims of the bible for yourself? To see if God is real and find out if He really could do, and be all he claimed in the bible? Jesus is the resurrection from the dead, and offers eternal life to all who believe. Do you want to be one of them? One who believes?

There are many, many more passages in the bible that confirm the divinity & resurrection of Jesus Christ. Please check it out and read it for yourself and consider: if you don’t have this hope in Christ for yourself, now is the time to fix that.

He sacrificed his son, Jesus on the cross and let him die. God also experienced the loss of his own son, before he raised him to new life. God did this, so through Christ, he will also save all who believe in Christ and will raise them from the dead. If you believe in the resurrection of Jesus, with faith, then you too will one day be resurrected to new life in Christ.

Heaven is a real place, just like Earth is. I want to be in Heaven one day. My daughter died just six months ago, I miss her terribly, but I look forward to seeing her again. To being with her again, to joining her and Christ my savior in that eternal life waiting for me. I wait patiently for that day. I’m expecting God to uphold his promise to bring me to himself at the proper time. I am ready. The only way you will be ready too, is to make a decision about God and his plan for your future through Jesus Christ. If you delay choosing, ahead of your death, you could really regret not making that choice now. Not accepting Christs’ gift offered to you, has eternal consequences.

In Love, God has a plan for your loss, it is found in the Restoration of a Relationship with Him,  and the Resurrection of Life through His Son, Jesus. God offers this to all who believe.

Question is… Will you Believe?

I believe, I hope you will too, Susan
