Song – Chris Tomlin – ‘Who you are to me’

I know how much criticism Contemporary Christian Music can receive from the
Christian community. However, I think some of it gets a bad rap. Indeed, some of it is
produced with bad theology, or filmed for a video in an Un-Christian environment, and
some of it misses the mark of glorifying God well. But a lot of it, represents very well,
how I feel, what I’m struggling with, what I’m hoping for. I’m grateful Christian
musicians attempt to convey their faith, and their hearts through their music. I think
they deserve a pass on what doesn’t come across as they intended.

I listen to a lot of Christian Music daily. Much of it, speaks to my weary soul. Music is
also therapy for me and helps me with my poor memory. Words set to music, bypass
some of my memory retaining issues. I’m so grateful for that.
I hope to share some of my favorite songs with you, and share why they mean so much
to me, they are not new, but many are still amazing. I have them on my playlists,
maybe you’ll add them to yours.

I often turn to music when I’m feeling low, when I’m angry, when I’m too discouraged
to pray or read my bible. I know during those times I need to turn to God, but I don’t
always do that. Often music will help me do that. So, I turn to music to help get me
back on track. It soothes me, and I wouldn’t exercise regularly without it. I thank God
for music and the Christian musicians that write songs that speak to my weary soul.

Here are some of the lyrics to the song, ‘Who you are to me’ by Chris Tomlin.

“Some people think You’re distant, just some words on a page
That You’re nothing more than fables handed down along the way
But I’ve seen You part the waters
When no one else could pull me from the deep
That’s who you are to me”

“You’re amazing, faithful, love’s open door
When I’m empty You fill me
with hunger for more
Of your mercy, your goodness
Lord, You’re the air that I breathe
That’s who you are to me”

I love this song, it’s on one of my favorite playlists. I would say ‘Thank You’ to Chris
Tomlin for finding the words to express Who God Really is to Me.

God is so personal, so amazing, so real. These lyrics remind me to remember, God is
real, Close, available, and approachable. He will get me through the depth of anything
that comes my way. I can rely on God, because he has proven faithful to me over and
over. ‘He is the air that I breathe’. Yes, He Is!

These are my thoughts about this amazing song about my amazing God.

Please, go have a listen, may this song bless you too!
